All in all these Bolle Anaconda sunglasses look the part and feel fantastic.

You can choose from several lens colours and types for your Bolle Anaconda sunglasses including: TNS, TLB Dark, polarized sandstone gun, polarized axis, polarized TLB dark, modulator polarized grey, TNS gun and polarized TLB dark.

The polarized lenses are ideal for bright and very sunny days because they are outfitted with optically precise filters that will eliminate most reflected light and glares.

For 50 years Bolle has been designing and producing some of the best eyewear in the world such as the Bolle Anaconda sunglasses. Bolle sunglasses are used world wide by sportsmen and athletes alike. Or just worn for general use,  these sunglasses have a combination of both performance and style.

Sunglasses such as Bolle Anaconda sunglasses are a form of protective eyewear that protect or enclose the pupil of the eye to stop strong light, ultra violet rays and blue light getting to the pupil and causing damage. Direct sunlight can in many cases be too bright for many people and cause discomfort especially whilst pursuing outdoor activities where the eye tends to receive more light than usual. To combat this these days many people use sunglasses.

There is a history to sunglasses and it is believed that Nero the Roman Emperor used emeralds to protect his eyes whilst watching gladiator fights. Whether these were effective or not is questionable as emeralds would work more like mirrors than protective sunglasses.

Construction of bolle sunglasses

The lens colour on bolle anaconda sunglasses and other bolle sunglasses can vary depending upon style, fashion and purpose of use. However for day to day use such as driving a car it is recommended that you use red, grey, brown or yellow lenses as these colours avoid or minimize colour distortion. So we here on this bolle anaconda web site will give you a quick run down on the colours of lenses and the effects they have.

Blue or purple lenses are chosen mainly for their cosmetic looks rather than the functions they provide or actually not provide. Grey and green lenses do maintain true colours and because of this are considered to be neutral lenses. Brown lenses tend to increase contrast quite well but they do cause a little or some colour distortion. Orange and yellow lenses increase both depth  perception and contrast. As well as this they do also increase colour distortion. Yellow lenses enhance contrast and give you a wider perception property. These yellow lenses are used widely by pilots, hunters boaters and fishermen people. And finally for medium and high light conditions people use turquoise lenses as they do not colour distort and are very good at enhancing contrast.

Sunglass lenses are made of either plastic or glass. Acrylic, polyurethane or polycarbonate are what plastic lenses are usually made from. Plastic lenses are much lighter than glass lenses but however are prone to scratching. But the benefits of plastic lenses are that they are shatterproof and hence they are good for impact protection. A better and safer option if you are involved in physical outdoor activities. CR-39 is the most common plastic lens and they are lightweight, have a high scratch resistance and also a low transparency for ultraviolet and infrared radiation.

Sunglass frames are usually made from nylon, metal or a metal alloy. In bolle anaconda sunglasses nylon is used because it is both flexible and lightweight. They also have properties which allow them to  bend slightly and also to return back to their original shape instead of breaking when under pressure. Metal frames are a lot more rigid than plastic or nylon frames and hence are more prone to damage, Because they are more rigid some of the metal framed sunglasses have spring loaded hinges to help them grip the users face a lot better. Nylon or plastic frames are much better to use with outdoor activities than metal frames but of course you can still use metal frames for the outdoors.

In 12th century China the Chinese used flat panes of smoky quartz to protect their eyes from any sun glare. They did protect the eye but however had no corrective powers. In 1752 James Ayscough was convinced that blue or green tinted lenses could be used in spectacles to aid in the correction of specific impairments in vision. These were not sunglasses and any protection from the rays of the sun was not a concern for him. But here were tinted lenses that were used then and are widely used nowadays. In the 19th and 20th century yellow and brown tinted spectacles were seen in numbers as they were the regular prescription equipment for people who were suffering from syphilis. One of the symptoms of this disease was sensitivity to bright light. And lets not forget about prehistoric times. The Inuit people used walrus ivory which was flattened and had narrow slits for the eye to look out from. These were an attempt to protect the eyes from the harmful reflected rays.

So throughout history there has always been a problem with the harmful rays emitted by the sun and the need to protect the eyes from these. I am just grateful that technology has moved along greatly since the “olden days” and instead of wearing flattened walrus ivory to protect my eyes I can just slip on a pair of advanced Bolle anaconda sunglasses.

Polarization

Bolle anaconda polarized lenses are designed to eliminate glare and visual discomfort. Polarized light rays are caused by light rays vibrating and radiating in all directions. When the light vibrations are scattered, refracted or reflected then they become polarized. Bolle polarized lenses deal with this with ease.

Bolle Modulator Lens

As we all know light conditions are changing constantly. Bolle modular lens deal with this through utilizing its active cell technology. This technology works on a special molecular level to give you performance, comfort and optimal eye protection in any given light condition. Sunglasses with the modulator lens have photo chromic technology embedded within the actual lens of the sunglasses under a highly protective hard coat.

Polycarbonate Lenses

Not only do these protect you from the sun, but due to the lightweight premium grade resin used to make these, they are 20 times more impact resistant than glass and 3 times lighter and of course are used on the bolle anaconda sunglasses.

Bolle Frames

Bolle frames are made from the finest possible nylon that is available. Because of the materials used Bolle anaconda frames are extremely strong. The nylon also allows the frames to be lightweight and very flexible

Thermogrip

In order for best adhesion to the face in the most comfortable way possible, the bolle anaconda glasses have thermogrip rubber temples and nose pads. These are both moisture absorbing for comfort and solidness in a very comfortable way.

Spring Hinges

To give you a secure and comfortable fit, integrated sunglasses spring hinges are designed specifically to exact standards to give just the right amount of tension on the temples in your bolle anaconda sunglasses.

Microfusion

Exclusive to Bolle is micro fusion. This manufacturing process actually injects molten metal alloys into the frames of the metal framed sunglasses. By using this process Bolle can achieve a highly precise style and design of frame. They also use this process on hand finished frames and machine stamped frames such as those for bolle anaconda.

The TNS lenses are most ideal for all purpose use because of the coloured neutral-density grey.

But the whole range provides you with many options for practically any outdoor activity when you add the high contrast amber lens of the polarized sandstone gun and the all purpose facility of the modular polarized grey  to the TNS and Polarized lenses.

Impact resistant polycarbonate lenses with 100% UV protection

Bolle sunglasses are becoming more popular in use in sports. These bolle sunglasses have to meet special requirements when worn by sports people and all the top sports professionals. These sports sunglasses need to be shatterproof and have impact resistant lenses. They also usually have a strap or some other fixing that is used to keep the sunglasses in place during these sporting activities. And of course they must have a nose cushion as comfort and security is extremely important.

When mountain climbing or travelling across snowfields or glaciers you will require above average eye protection as the sunlight and ultraviolet radiation are more intense at higher altitudes and of course you have the additional strong light reflected by the snow and ice. Apart from sunglasses for this you have goggles which usually have dark round lenses which stop the sun’s rays at the sides as well as the front.

In water sports they can be called water sunglasses and these are made differently to be able to deal with water turbulence in such instances as surfing or white water canoeing. As well as having all the usual bolle sunglasses features they also have increased buoyancy to prevent them from sinking and also have a vent or some other method to prevent them from steaming up or fogging.

Bolle’s Action sport line including the bolle anaconda has all the eyewear you need whether you are running, golfing, biking or in fact any outdoor activity. With its versatile interchangeable lens system these glasses allow you to keep up with any changing conditions in any given sport. The superbly designed lenses wrap around the face protecting you from the elements. Standards for sunglasses

There are 3 major sunglass standards which are judged on sunglasses protection from UV radiation. There is not yet as such a worldwide ISO standard. All standards are voluntary which means that not all the makes in the market place comply to these standards and nor are sunglass manufacturers required to comply.

The European standard EN 18362005 has 4 transmittance ratings. 0 = insufficient UV protection. 2 = sufficient UHV protection. 6 = good UHV protection and 7 = full UHVV protection which means no more than 5% of the 380 nm rays are transmitted.

The US standard is ANSI Z80.3-2001 which has 3 transmittance categories. The standard is that the lens should have a UVB transmittance of no more than 1% and a UVA transmittance of no more than 0.3 times the visual light transmittance.

The Australian Standard is AS/NZ1067-2003. The 5 ratings for this standard are based upon the amount of light that is absorbed. It is rated from 0 to 4 with 0 providing some protection from UV radiation with 4 meaning a very high level of protection, but not suitable for driving a car.
