Jansport Rucksack

Invented in 1967 by Greg Lowe the internal frame rucksack is a fairly new innovation. The internal frame rucksack or backpack has a large cloth section in which a small frame is integrated within it.

The frame is usually made of metal or plastic and is able to mold itself to the wearers back to give a very comfortable fit. It comes usually with a series of straps  that work together with the frame to evenly distribute the weight inside the sack and hold it in place. External frame Jansport rucksack traditionally use a rigid external frame which you strap on to the back and carries and supports a cloth or leather sack. The external frame rucksack or backpack can be used to carry heavier weights than the frame-less Jansport rucksack and also give the wearer more protection and support and better weight distribution than the frame-less version.

In the olden days internal framed rucksacks or backpacks were not so viable as they only carried small loads and were not so comfortable during steady walking. However with improved innovations they are now greatly improved and because of their snug fit they are much better in activities that use a lot of upper body movement such as trekking and skiing. Types Of Rucksack

In the olden days wooden pack frames were used but nowadays the modern pack frames tend to be made of lightweight metal tubes which is usually aluminium because of it durability and lightness. Titanium and scandium is also used but aluminium is the most popular. The good thing about the frame is the system of straps and pads which keep the frame and sack from actually contacting the body. This helps with ventilation and the problem of sweatiness. The frame is bigger than the sack which allows you to be in a position to attach additional items such as sleeping bags, tents or thermal pads. So the main internal compartment is reduced thus allowing you to carry more bulky items. The problem with this though is that it is less smooth and you have less control over the load than you do have with an internal frame rucksack. You may also suffer from bruising caused by the un cushioned frame banging or rubbing against the body. They are however very durable.

The scout backpack has a capacity of 3853 cubic inches with dimensions of  33 x 20.5 x 12 inches. It too has ergonomic S- curve shoulder straps to help with a snug fit and an adjustable aluminium frame systems that adjusts to torso lengths of between 13 inches and 17 inches. It also has dual panel loading main compartments. On the side of the backpack it has dual side zippered pockets as well as having dual side water bottle pockets. The breathable mesh lumbar cushion remains dry and comfortable in wet conditions and there is a front zippered pocket.

With dimensions of  18 x 8.5 x 13 inches and weighing 1.2 pounds this right pack original is a nice useful carrying tool. It is made from leather and because of the deluxe yarn dyed fabric it offers superior colour and quality. There is one main compartment and again there is the utility pocket on the front for storing your essentials and easy quick access to these essentials. Also on the front is an additional stash pocket. The rucksack is comfortable enough to wear having padded shoulder straps and comes in I think seven different colour schemes for you to choose from.

This Classic daypack has a capacity of 1900 cubic inches and weighs just 1 pound 4 ounces. The dimensions are 17.88 x 13 x 8.5 inches making it a cool trendy bag with a large capacity. It is constructed from 600D polyester and 6W corduroy and the bottom is made of suede Coronado leather. There is one single large compartment for things to carry and on the front is a front accessory pocket with an organizer and a keyper. For comfort the backpack has padded shoulder straps and the back of the bag is also padded. The handle of this bag is a web ergo handle with reinforced hold on the top of the pack.

Weighing just 1.2 pounds and dimensions of 18 x 8.5 x 13 inches this bag is the original right pack original and pretty much identical to the right pack original yarn dyed. The difference being though that the yarn dyed has superior colour and look because of the material used to keep the colours. But apart from that there is no reason to discard this bag for its updated version. After all what is a little bit of colour ? Anyway the bag is made from leather and cordura fabric which gives the backpack superior durability. It’s padded shoulder straps give you all the comfort you need and coming with a large main compartment this rucksack can carry very much. The front utility pocket keeps your essentials handy.

Jansport rucksack come in many sizes and varieties.On this page we shall take a look at a couple of examples from the superbreak series that are small,light and ideal for short breaks.

Jansport Classic Superbreak Colourblock Backpack

With a capacity of 1551 cubic inches and dimensions of 16.75 x 13 x 8.5 inches this is an ideal rucksack or backpack to have and use for a short trip away. It is straight cut with padded shoulder straps that are very comfortable when wearing. It is made from polyester which is weather resistant and is of the type 600 Denier polyester. It has one large main compartment for carrying your gear and a front utility pocket for smaller items. For added comfort the back panel is two thirds padded giving a great cushioning comfort effect. The whole backpack weighs just 12 ounces.

The Jansport Tote is a great looking and very functional carry on to keep you and your things very well organized. It is ideal for using with a short break. The super break Tote is made from polyester and has a detachable shoulder pad with an adjustable pad. The one main storage compartment has a straight top zip which allows you to pack the bag very easily. On the inside is a very convenient interior pocket and the the slip in magazine stash sleeve actually unzips allowing you to slide it over the handle of wheeled luggage. On the side of the bag is a  side water bottle pocket. The dimensions of this bag are 16 x 8 x 12 inches and it weighs just 1.3 pounds.

This Jansport superbreak wheeled backpack is both spacious and versatile. It is a great travel bag especially for use on aeroplanes. It has a capacity of 2000 cubic inches with one large compartment for your clothes and other items and a front utility pocket that is ideal and gives you quick access to your essentials. The reason this bag is such a great travel bag is because it has a retractable 3 stage rubber handle and corner mounted skate wheels that glide smoothly over any given surface.
